As the parent of a dancer, you take on several jobs in supporting your dancer. You manage their schedules, you act as a makeup artist and seamstress during recital season, and you are also the financier of the lessons. Ever wonder how you can motivate your dancer during the summer months? Here are five simple ways to have a productive summer!
1. Help them to set goals this summer. Teach them the importance of hard work and determination. Explain to them that if they want to reach their goals, they will have to put in the work.
2. Have them create an inspiration board. They can print our articles, words, and pictures that inspire them to dance. Have them use the internet or dance magazines to find their inspiration.
3. Motivate them to start a light stretching or strengthening routine. Maybe you can even join them in this 10-minutes-a-day process. Remember that they just accomplished a full year of dance, and the last thing we want to do is lose that hard work!
4. Refresh and reboot their minds! Encourage them to practice Meditation, Breathing Techniques, Yoga, or even Art as a form of relaxation! Teach them the importance of taking care of your mind just as we care for our bodies.
